How you own your posts

When you create a wallet here (or scan in with HME Wallet), your device makes a 12-word recovery phrase and hands us one thing: a watch-only public key for a branch reserved for Bonfire. From that key we can create addresses forever. We can never spend from them, and we never see your phrase.

Every post takes the next number on that branch. Post #0 gets the first address, post #1 the next, and so on — no gaps, so the list is walkable end to end.

• Your photo or story is stored on IPFS. Its address is a hash of the content itself, so nobody — including us — can alter it without changing the address.
• A short record is written to the chain, pointing at that IPFS address, and it is sent to your post's own address.
• Comments and tips on that post are paid to the same address. So the post's address is the public history of the post: when it appeared, and everything it earned.
• Tips land in your balance here, and the payment record stays on chain at the post's address.

1. Restore your 12 words in any TEXITcoin-compatible wallet.
2. Point it at the branch m/44'/696969'/1101'/0.
3. Walk the addresses in order: 0, 1, 2, 3… Each one has a transaction carrying the IPFS address of one of your posts.
4. Fetch that IPFS address from any gateway. You get your original photo, caption or story back, with its timestamp.

You can do this today from your account page — it lists every post with its number, its address and its chain transaction, all clickable into the public explorer.

• Posts made before you linked a wallet are anchored to a shared Bonfire address instead of yours. They're still provable, but the authorship record sits in our database. New posts fix this.
• IPFS keeps a file available while someone pins it. We pin yours while you're here; if you leave, pin them yourself or with any pinning service — the address never changes.
• Your phrase is yours. If you lose it and you haven't set up the recovery switch on your account page, nobody can restore your identity — that's the price of not being the product.
